At the end of your internship, you will turn in:

  • Your internship portfolio -- Due Week 3 of the semester immediately following your internship, e.g., Week 3 of the Fall semester, if you completed a summer internship.
  • You will be expected to enroll in CPSP 239E during the Spring semester of your sophomore year.

================================

Daily/Weekly Log:

If you are interning full-time, please summarize your activities once each week.

  • Hours on site: ______ Total hours so far: ______
  • Persons with whom you worked, talked, or consulted (briefly). This is the beginning of your professional network.
  • Your work activities and your reactions to them; how your work activities affect your thoughts about your major and/or possible career; internship rewards and frustrations; other thoughts/feelings (5-7 sentences per week).
  • Make a point of taking photographs, collecting training materials, and/or gathering other materials related to your internship. Eventually, you will construct an "Internship Portfolio" and create a "Powerpoint Presentation" about your internship; the materials you collect will help you prepare for success with both.

If you are interning 1-2 times/week, please use the daily format.

  • Starting time:_____ Ending time: ______ Hours on site: ______ Total hours so far: ______

Progress Report #1:

After one-third of your internship is complete, please send (by e-mail) a progress report. This is an opportunity to reflect on what's been happening so far.

Explain...

  • What is going well in your internship?
  • What is not going as well as you'd hoped?
  • Include a strategy for attempting to deal with the needs for improvement, e.g., arrange a meeting with your site supervisor, list topics you would like to discuss with him/her or me, change your work schedule, etc.

Progress Report #2:

After two-thirds of your internship is complete, please send (by e-mail) a progress report and self-evaluation.
This exercise will help you learn to think about yourself as an employee. Are you meeting the goals your supervisor has set for you? the goals you have set for yourself? This is an opportunity to make adjustments before your supervisor completes your formal evaluation.
  • Use the Supervisor Evaluation Form to rate yourself. Explain your self-ratings fully. Be sure to give yourself credit for what you do well - as well as being honest about what you need to do better.

Internship Portfolio:

Due Week 3 of classes immediately following your internship, e.g., in September of your sophomore year, if you completed a summer internship.
